FACULTY: New Student Account Activation Process
January 10, 2007 | EditorTO: ALL FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME FACULTY, ALL CAMPUSES
Last semester, you received a bulletin from Dr. Barhorst announcing the rollout of our student/employee portal. The combined student/employee portal has been branded with the name of “Inside MATC” and is now available through a common link on the MATC homepage.
During the fall semester we began using the new account activation feature of the student portal. The new account activation process replaces the previous activation process that provided students access to district computers, email, and Blackboard. It still provides students access to these services, but also provides the added benefit of allowing them to search for classes, add or drop classes, pay fees, and view their final grades within Inside MATC.
Important! Please be aware that if you have incorporated the procedures for account activation within your class materials, you will need to revise those procedures.
However, I would encourage you to refer students to existing directions on our website instead of developing separate instructions. The directions can be found through the new “AskMATC” frequently asked questions service available from the MATC homepage. Just select the category of “Self-Service (Inside MATC)” or enter search text of “account activation.”
If students are on campus and need to temporarily login to the network, you can also refer them to the instructions that have been posted within each of the District labs.
If students have questions or need additional assistance, please refer them to the Tech Services Helpdesk, Truax Campus, Room 227, phone 246-6666 or the Library Computer Helpdesk, Truax Campus, Room 230, phone 243-4444. Thank you.
