Math Club Invites You to Celebrate Euler’s 300th Birthday

On Monday, January 29, the MATC Math Club will host a lecture and celebration in honor of mathematician Leonhard Euler’s 300th birthday this year. The lecture will be presented by Professor Ranjan Roy of Beloit College. Roy will speak at 3:30 p.m. in Room 209 at the Truax location. The lecture will be followed by a punch and cake-and-ice cream celebration at 4:30 p.m.

Euler is considered to be the preeminent mathematician of the 18th century and one of the greatest of all time. His contributions to the fields of mathematics, physics, astronomy, mechanics and other related fields are numerous. Among his mathematics contributions are advances in numbers theory, analysis, mathematical notation and logic.

You and your students are invited. Let your students know they can win a graphing calculator as door prize. Please share this information with your students. The event is free and open to the public.
