The MATC Volunteer Center was selected and recognized on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

The Honor Roll responds to President Bush’s call to service (pdf)* by building on and supporting the civic engagement mission of our nation’ s colleges and universities. This new recognition program is designed to increase public awareness of the contributions that college students are making within their local communities and across the country through volunteer service.

The Volunteer Center students sponsor programs and provide resources to students to get involved in the community and on campus through civic engagement activities. The student group promotes volunteerism and service-learning at MATC. The group produces programs including, but not limited to, the Alternative Winter, Spring and Summer Break Trips; the K-12 Tutoring Program; Santa\’s Wish List and other community projects where hundreds of MATC students are exposed to and assist with meeting a community need. The programs emphasize both service and learning through reflection!

MATC was one of two programs that were recognized in Wisconsin, NorthEast Wisconsin Technical College is the other Wisconsin technical college to be recognized. *(On the pdf, scroll to last page for Wisconsin entries.)
