Call for Nominations of Students for the WTCS State Ambassador Award
February 9, 2007 | EditorOnce again, the college community will be selecting one of our brightest students to serve as the MATC representative to the Wisconsin Technical Ambassador Program. I would like to ask that you nominate one or more students for this distinguished honor. The Ambassador Program recognizes and rewards excellence among technical college students and develops greater public awareness of technical education in Wisconsin. Nominations are being accepted through Friday, February 16, 2007. Nominations should be forwarded to me at:
Jackie Dahlke - Coordinator of Leadership Development
Student Life Office - MATC Truax Room 140
3550 Anderson Street - Madison, WI, 53704
(608) 246-6343 (office); (608) 246-6488 (fax)
dahlke@matcmadison.edu
The nomination is a simple 2-sided form, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete (Ambassador nominations packet 2007.pdf) (During an interview process, students are evaluated on their goals, enthusiasm, self-confidence and their value and understanding of technical education. A District Ambassador is then selected who will represent MATC at the state event, held April 4 & 5, 2007, in Madison. The district winner will receive a $500 honorarium from The MATC Student Life Office and will be awarded an additional $500 honorarium from Robert W. Baird Company at the state event.
To qualify for the Ambassador Program students must:
1. Have been accepted and enrolled in a vocational diploma or associate degree program, or have completed a diploma or
degree program between July 1 and June 30.
2. Have completed one or more semesters at MATC.
3. Must attend the state event in April 2007, in Madison.
4. Have the ability to serve for one year as the MATC Ambassador.
The state event is a wonderful opportunity for student leaders throughout the state to meet one another and to learn more about the benefits of the technical college system.
Please nominate a student. Even though each district is allowed to select only one Ambassador, the nomination and interview process alone are a worthwhile educational opportunity and a great recognition for outstanding students. A description of the Ambassador role and a nomination form are attached to this memo. Simply COMPLETE and RETURN. Should you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at 246-6343 or dahlke@matcmadison.edu.
Thank you.
