Marla Gamoran Nominated for 2007 Athena Award
February 23, 2007 | EditorMATC’s Business, Industry & Community Services Manager, Marla Gamoran, is nominated for a 2007 ATHENA Award, presented by The Business Forum. Ten nominees will be honored this year, and one will be named the 2007 ATHENA Award recipient when the business group presents its 10th annual fundraiser March 6 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center.
The ATHENA Award Program was created in 1982 and has grown to include hundreds of communities worldwide. Dane County’s first ATHENA Award was presented in 1998 to community activist Carol Toussaint, a foundation consultant. Last year’s recipient was Nancy Fulton Young, founder of Mental Health Service for Women & Families.
According to ATHENA International, award nominees demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession; provide valuable service by devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life for others; and assist women in reaching their full leadership potential.
The recipient receives an ATHENA sculpture and is invited to join the ATHENA International Foundation, which works to create leadership opportunities for women.
Congratulations, Marla!
