The MATC Office of International Education would like to announce two different opportunities for faculty exchange (see details below). Contact Geoff Bradshaw at (608) 246‑6165 for application materials or more information. The application deadline for both programs is March 26, 2007.

1. ICISP Faculty/Administrator Exchange Program

This consortium exchange program is designed to allow faculty or administrators to participate in a two-week exchange with partner institutions in Europe (especially in Holland and Finland).

Selected participants would host the exchange guest in their home from October 13 ‑ 27, 2007, and then travel to Europe from May 17 ‑ 31, 2008, to stay in the home of their exchange partner. This program is based on finding plausible matches between applicants from the US and European applicants with similar academic or professional roles.

If no European applicants can be found in a similar or related field, applicants will be skipped in favor of others for whom a plausible match can be found. The MATC Office of International Education will sponsor one full-time teaching faculty member’s airfare for participation in this program.

Additional faculty and/or administrators may also apply if they can find department, center or personal funding to support their airfare.

Final selection/matching will be completed by the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs (ICISP). In order to be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

a. Applicants must be a full-time faculty or administrator at Madison Area Technical College
b. Applicants must have suitable accommodations to be able to host an international visitor in their home for two weeks (private room, appropriate access to bathroom etc.)
c. Applicants will assume responsibility for all costs (meals, transportation, etc., of hosting the international guest in their home, and will receive reciprocal treatment during their travel to Europe)
d. Applicants must be willing to be matched for exchange from any partner college in Europe (most placements are in the Netherlands, with some in Finland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom)
e. Applicants must be able to articulate a plan of participation with clear benefit/value to the college and agree to provide presentations or other documentation upon return demonstrating completion of stated goals
f. Applicants must be able to participate in the program during the specified dates (October 13 - 27, 2007, and May 17 - 31, 2008)

2. Faculty/Staff Exchange with Hessen, Germany

As part of our ongoing sister‑state relationship with Hessen, Germany, MATC is currently accepting applications from faculty to participate as part of a WTCS delegation to Germany, May 28 - June 5, 2007.

This opportunity is only open to faculty who have already hosted a Hessen visitor in their home as part of a MATC or WTCS exchange.

In order to be eligible for this opportunity applicants must meet the following criteria:

a. Applicants must be full time faculty or staff at Madison Area Technical College.
b. Applicants must have already hosted an exchange visitor (student or staff) in their homes as part of a MATC or WTCS program.
c. Applicants must be able to articulate a plan of participation with clear benefit/value to the college and agree to provide presentations or other documentation upon return demonstrating completion of stated goals.
d. Applicants must be able to participate in the program during the specified dates (May 28 - June 5, 2007)
