MATC Matters

As many of you know, the Red Cross is unique regarding our National Inventory Management System. This means that in addition to providing blood products to the divisional hospitals that we service, all the regions across the country are able to help each other by supplying blood products when they are needed.

The Madison‑based Badger Hawkeye Region shipped 100 O-positive units to Texas this week after a police officer was shot and needed 65 units of type O blood. We are able to help other Red Cross regions throughout the nation
because of dedicated donors like you. This system enables us to always have the blood available for every patient in need.

If you are eligible to give blood now, please call 1‑800‑GIVE LIFE (1‑800‑448‑3543) or visit the Red Cross website to make an appointment within the next few days to help build our supply up to optimal levels. If you are ineligible to give, please pass this message along to friends, family, co‑workers and neighbors and encourage them to give the gift of life.
