Introducing new Business, Industry & Community Services project manager
April 19, 2007 | EditorIt is my honor to introduce our new Project Manager for the Community Based Job Training Grant Laboratory Skills Project, Schauna Rasmussen.
The Laboratory Skills Project is funded through a $2.0 million US Department of Labor ‑ Community Based Job Grant (CBJTG). The project focuses on building career pathway training for laboratory related jobs. The project will involve the college’s Lab Animal Tech and Biotechnology programs and our science and math departments in the Arts & Sciences Center. MATC was one of 72 colleges across the United States awarded a CBJTG grant in a competitive funding process.
Schauna will be working out of the college’s Business, Industry & Community Services department. She brings rich experience in case management and business relations to the college and will be working with college faculty and instructional leaders as well as with our Workforce and Job Center partners to make this project a success.
Schauna’s efforts will focus on the project’s four critical strategies:
- Design and implement career pathways to employment
- Develop sustainable collaborative partnerships with employers
- Amplify worker recruitment pipelines and access to training
- Expand the college capacity to meet industry need ‑ including additional faculty and lab space.
The project links customized training options to the college’s occupational and academic programs. Please join me in welcoming Schauna to MATC.
