Run. Walk. Get inspired. Get involved.

Join more than 1 million participants worldwide - and make a difference.

Cheer on our team! Madison Area Technical College is forming a team again this year for the Susan G. Komen Madison Race for a Cure event on Saturday, June 2. This 5K run/walk and 1 mile walk benefit the Madison affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Why should you become involved in this important fund raiser? Because breast cancer touches so many of us. Over 178,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States during 2007, and over 40,000 women are estimated to die from breast cancer. In addition, over 2,000 males will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and 450 will die from the disease.

The schedule for race day:

Saturday, June 2, 2007
8:00 a.m. - Welcome remarks & aerobic warm-up
8:30 a.m. - Men’s and women’s 5K run begins
8:45 a.m. - Men’s and women’s 5K walk begins
9:00 a.m. - 1 mile fun course begins
10:30 a.m. - Survivor Photo
10:45 a.m. - Awards program

The mission of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease through the advancement of research, education, screening and treatment. There will be over 100 Komen Race for the Cure events held throughout the country during 2007. Do your part in Madison! Let’s keep up the good work!
