RE: GRADUATION
DATE: MAY 3, 2007

Graduation is a time for all of us at the college to celebrate in the academic success of our students. During the next several weeks we will be have pinning ceremonies, the annual spring Commencement, and GED graduations.

The participation by faculty and staff at these events has been fantastic over the years and we hope that you all will once again take part in these celebrations.

Following is information on the events that may be helpful to you as you work with students. We are also in need of your assistance to identify individuals who will need special accommodations at the ceremonies.

If you know of graduates in your classes or their guests who will need accommodations (such as sign language interpreters) or special considerations (such as wheelchair accessibility), please contact Beth Bremer by May 11 for the pinning and May 20 commencement ceremonies and by June 1 for the GED graduations. She can be reached at 243-4373 or by email.

Annual Spring Commencement Ceremony - Sunday May 20

The annual spring ceremony will be Sunday, May 20, at the Overture Center for the Arts with ceremonies at 10 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. The 10 a.m. ceremony will award degrees to students in Construction-Manufacturing-Transportation & Apprenticeship, Health & Safety Education, and Protective Services, while the 1 p.m. ceremony will recognize those students in Arts & Science, Agriscience & Technologies and Business & Applied Arts. The determination regarding the groupings was based on past graduate attendees in each of the programs.

Additional ceremony details can be obtained on the Graduation webpage, which has the FAQ, information on preparing for the ceremony, and directions to the site.

The ceremony will be streamed live on the MATC Website for those that aren’t able to travel to Madison. Information will be linked from the homepage and on the Graduation webpage.
As has been the tradition at the college, special recognition will be given to graduating students on the basis of special service (non-academic) to the school and fellow students. A gold cord will be worn at the commencement ceremony and a Special Service certificate will be forwarded with the diploma. Recipients will also be designated in the commencement program.

Nominations are still being accepted thru May 7. A Special Service Graduation Nomination Form (WORD: 32KB) is attached for your convenience.
