East Washington Ave. Construction Update

Here’s the planned work for the week of May 14, for East Washington Avenue (Second Street to Marquette Street)

Reconstruction of the outbound lanes continues including:

  • Grading from 4th to 5th
  • Water and sanitary services from 4th Street to 6th Street
  • Sanitary sewer from Union to Milwaukee
  • Storm Sewer construction from 6th to Milwaukee Street
  • Storm sewer 6′x3′ box culvert from Oak to Johnson Street
  • CLOSED INTERSECTIONS: Union Street and Oak Street
  • Bridge work for the roadway structure over Starkweather Creek, and for the new pedestrian structure
  • Work by private utility companies

Here’s the planned work for the week of May 14th, for East Washington Avenue (Thornton Avenue to Second Street)

Work is continuing on grading for the bike paths, and work on the retaining walls on the south side of the bridge:

  • Prep work for staining the bridge
  • Median lanes will be closed from Dickinson to 2nd Street and parking removed from these areas. The parking lane will become a travel lane to maintain three lanes of traffic in each direction.
  • Work will continue in the median including: planting beds, and signing.
  • Pavement marking on East Washington Avenue

Bus stops will be maintained in the construction zone, See Metro website or project website - “Metro Transit During Construction� for details.
