I am pleased to announce two of our new deans joining us at MATC. First, I would like to thank the selection committees. Our committee members gave a lot of their time and energy to this process. Second, I would like to thank Jenny Bentley who was our Human Resource representative. Jenny was instrumental in providing all of our applicants with a positive experience.
Arts and Sciences:
Veronica Delcourt will be our new dean of Arts and Sciences. Veronica is currently the Academic Dean at Rasmussen College in Rockford, Illinois. She moved to the Midwest to complete her PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Veronica’s other administrative experience includes serving as the Dean of Academic and Student Services at Washington County Community College in Calais, Maine, the Director of Admissions at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor Maine, and the Assistant Dean for Academic Support Services at York County Community College in Wills, Maine. Veronica has taught courses in English as a Second Language, English, Psychology, College Success and a variety of adult continuing education courses. Veronica has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Maine in Linguistics and her Masters is from the same university in Adult Education. Veronica also brings to MATC experience as a successful grant writer, presenter, researcher and writer. We have set Veronica’s first day of work as July 16.
Construction, Manufacturing, Apprenticeship and Transportation (CMAT):
Kenneth Starkman will be our new dean of CMAT. Ken has a bachelors and a masters degree in Industrial/Technology Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Ken has been a teacher at both the high school and post secondary levels including teaching wood techniques at MATC-Milwaukee and Vocation and Technical Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He has been involved at the state and national level with Skills-USA. Ken has worked at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction since 1996. He has served as the state supervisor of technology and engineering education and the state supervisor for teacher education. He has worked extensively with business and industry and our four-year universities in the state of Wisconsin. Ken has served as the President of the International Technology Education Association providing leadership and direction for an association of technology teaching professionals in 47 countries. He has also served on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Technology Education Association for ten years.
I hope you will all join me in welcoming Veronica and Ken to MATC.
