East Washington Ave. Construction Update
June 19, 2007 | EditorHere’s the planned work for the week of June 18 for East Washington Avenue (Second Street to Marquette Street)
Reconstruction of the median from 3rd Street to 6th Street will switch to stage 2A – traffic will be split with inbound traffic on the north side of the roadway and outbound traffic on the new concrete pavement. A crossover will be placed between 6th and 7th Streets. Work in this section includes:
- The median at Fourth Street will be closed from Monday 6/18 thru Sat morning 6/23 for underground utilities and concrete paving. Fourth Street will be open, but left turns onto Fourth and left turns onto East Washington will be restricted.
- Removing pavement in the median and grading
- Extension of utilities across the median (storm sewer, water main and sanitary sewer)
- Concrete paving by the end of the week
Reconstruction of the outbound lanes from 7th Street to Marquette Street
- Grading on Milwaukee Street
- Storm sewer from Milwaukee Street to Marquette Street
- Grading from Oak Street to Union Street
- Marquette Street will be closed from Tuesday 6/19 thru Friday 6/22
- Bridge work for the roadway structure over Starkweather Creek, and for the new pedestrian structure
- Work by private utility companies
Bus stops will be maintained in the construction zone, See Metro website or project website - “Metro Transit During Construction� for details. There will be no parking on East Washington Avenue in the construction zone. Alternative Routes are I90/94 and the beltline.
