RE: Associate Dean of Business and Applied Arts announcement

It is with pleasure that I would like to announce the appointment of Turina Bakken to the position of Associate Dean of Business and Applied Arts. Many of you know and/or have worked with Turina in her most recent position as Lead Faculty and Instructor for our Marketing program since 1998. Turina is a leader with strengths in building relationships and strategic alliances. She is an innovator who has designed curriculum in marketing, international marketing, promotions and advertising and strategic management and was instrumental in the design and implementation of the Fast-track Marketing program. In 2006, Turina was awarded the MATC Foundation-Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Teacher Award.

Prior to her employment at MATC, Turina served as a marketing consultant and adjunct faculty for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Executive Education department, Lakeland College and Votedge Branding and Communications. She served as the Director of Programs and Director of Communications for MAQIN, an independent nonprofit network of 175 organizations, serving as a resource for organizational learning, change and improvement. Additionally, Turina worked as an editor and marketing manager for the Executive Education/Management Institute a division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business and as an Associate Product Manager for Funjet Vacations in Milwaukee.

Turina has a Bachelors of Business Administration - Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts - International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters of Science with emphasis in marketing, quality management and organizational theory and design also from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Turina will begin in her new position Monday, July 23. Please extend your support and congratulations to Turina.
