Volunteers Needed for Welcome Back Event for Students on August 27 and 28

The Students First Initiative Team will once again sponsor this year’s Welcome Back event on the first two days of school districtwide.

The event, “Welcome Back! Students are First at MATC!”, will include the following:

• Volunteers helping with directions and referral information in the hallways
• A Pepsi trailor and truck outside offering free soda to students
• Domino’s offering free slices of pizza to students
• Extended hours of service in many areas of the college

The purpose of the program is to provide students an opportunity to:

• Get quick answers to questions
• Acquire directional assistance to classrooms and offices
• Obtain referral information so that they can get their business taken care of during the first two days of classes in an inviting manner

We have two different volunteer needs for this event, which will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days. We will need volunteers to sign up for a one-hour shift to staff the Pepsi trailer outside the gym entrance or to greet students in the hallways. No special training is required to be a volunteer, just a desire to make students feel welcome. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Shawna Carter at 243‑4228.
