MATC students featured in “Men in Reporting Calendar”

Mike Helland (r) and Jeff Lahti (l), students in MATC’s judicial reporting and broadcast captioning program, were selected to appear in the Men in Reporting calendar produced by the National Court Reporters Association. MATC’s reporting program is approved by the NCRA, and Mike and Jeff are student members of the association.
Mike and Jeff competed for a spot in the Men in Reporting calendar with other male reporters across the United States. When the August 2007-December 2008 calendar makes its debut at the NCRA national convention in Dallas on August 9, Mike and Jeff will join the special autograph party of this year’s calendar men to sign their page for hundreds of NCRA members.
Mike, who is blind, uses special audio and Braille technology to produce transcripts. Jeff’s interest in the reporting profession was prompted by his step-mother who is a freelance reporter in Milwaukee.
Mike and Jeff join two other Wisconsin court reporters who also earned calendar pages-MATC reporting program graduate Ed Johnson and retired reporter Coley Griffin.
