Business technology faculty members Gerri Wicklund, June Sarbacker, CPS, and Colleen Vidlock presented at the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) convention and educational forum in Tampa, which annually draws more than 1,800 attendees. MATC is a long‑time partner with IAAP by offering the nation’s first online two‑year administrative assistant degree program to IAAP members as well as to district residents.
Sandra P. Chandler, CPS, president of IAAP during the conference, saluted MATC: “IAAP values the relationship with Madison Area Technical College in supporting the ever‑changing educational needs of our members. Lifelong learning is certainly the key to the success of the career‑minded administrative professional.
In addition to presenting a workshop on MATC’s online programs and new department course offerings in Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Vista, the three staffed an exhibit hall booth, and made face‑to‑face contact with many MATC online program students from across the country. Gerri Wicklund, who has spearheaded MATC’s online AA program since the program’s inception a decade ago, was honored at a luncheon of MATC online students in attendance at the IAAP convention. Gerri will retire from MATC in December. June Sarbacker will assume online AA program leadership.
Information on MATC’s online AA program, the IAAP‑MATC partnership, and Office 2007 courses at MATC can be found on the business technology department webpage.
