Condolences to our MATC colleague and friend, Colette Sisco
August 10, 2007 | EditorDear Friends in the MATC Community:
Many of you know Colette Sisco, who teaches Psychology in the Arts and Science Division. Her youngest son Michael has been seriously ill with a rare form of cancer for the last four years. You may remember that Colette lost her middle son, Ben, who died unexpectedly last June.
At about 9 p.m. Wednesday night, Aug 8, Colette’s son, Michael Beschta came to the end of his long journey through cancer treatment. He died peacefully in the company of family and friends, surrounded by an incredible amount of love.
Colette thanks you for all the support and love you have given her and Michael during his illness. Michael’s ordeal was difficult, punctuated with multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and ongoing pain. He handled all of this with bravery, strength, acceptance, and never a word of complaint. Your kind thoughts and deeds helped Colette and Michael through all of this. Colette is most grateful to work in such a loving community.
If you knew Michael you knew he was an independent spirit with unique ideas about how he wanted us to celebrate his life and death. There will be a visitation at Gunderson Funeral Home in Middleton (University Ave), Saturday, August 11 between 2:00-4:-00 pm. As he requested, Michael’s funeral will be an outdoor celebration. The funeral service is at lower Hoyt Park (at the end of Regent St.) at 11:00 am Sunday August 12. You are all welcome to join Colette and her family.
