RE: Chief of Security

Please welcome Jim Bottoni to MATC as the new Chief of Security.

Jim is coming to MATC from the Milwaukee Public Museum where he served as the Director of Security and Visitor Services for the past six and a half years. In this position, Jim was responsible for the design and implementation of security and safety policies and procedures to ensure protection of the museum complex, which includes a 400,000 square foot facility, an IMAX Theater, three on-site retail facilities, and corporate professional areas.

As Director of Security and Visitor Services, Jim was responsible for 38 full- and part-time staff; management of the access control system, security system, access badges and fire suppression system; and oversight of safety regulations and procedures to ensure compliance was maintained

Jim’s experience also has included several years of experience working at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). His service with MSOE began in 1984 where he served as Public Safety Officer for four years. He was then promoted to Assistant Director of Public Safety and served in this position for two years. In 1990, Jim was promoted to the position of Director of Public Safety at MSOE where he provided protection, safety, and security for a university community that included seven academic buildings, 18 parking lots, and three residence halls and recruited, trained and supervised 20 full-time officers and other support staff.

His other experiences include six years of services in the United States Army, National Guard where he was a Military Police and received the Distinguished Graduate Award. In addition, Jim earned his Bachelor of Science-Business Administration and Management from Cardinal Stritch University.

I am confident the vast experience Jim will bring to the position of Chief of Security will enhance our current security efforts and look forward to his joining us on Monday, August 27.
