Lee Denim Day to Raise Money for Breast Cancer Research
September 17, 2007 | Editor| October 5, 2007 |
Lee National Denim Day is one of the largest single-day fundraisers for breast cancer, a disease that impacts countless lives every year. More and more people have been touched by breast cancer in some way; whether it be a family member, a friend, or even ourselves. On October 5, 2007, you can fight back by wearing denim and making a contribution that will support the work of the Women’s Cancer Program.
Your $5 donation helps fund breast cancer research, education, treatment and screening programs. Wear your jeans on October 5 and look for the Denim Day representative at MATC campuses on the following dates:
Truax Cafeteria: Wednesday-Friday, October 3–5, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
DTEC Cafeteria: Thursday, October 4, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Commercial Avenue Office: Thursday, October 4, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Regional Campus Offices: Friday, October 5, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Treatment
Lee Jeans Translational Laboratories have brought together top-flight scientists at six leading medical institutions to work together to more rapidly translate laboratory findings into targeted therapies that can help treat breast cancer patients more safely. These efforts are aimed at increasing patient access to some of the most significant clinical trials in the nation.
Early Detection
The Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project is a multi-year coalition effort by national and internationally recognized scientists and clinicians who are collaborating in a groundbreaking research project to develop a blood test that can detect breast cancer at an early stage, when survival rates are highest.
Grassroots Support
The National Breast Cancer Coalition/Fund is working to create science-based breast cancer resources, both web and print, to help individuals with breast cancer make more informed decisions.
