Wolfie greets visitors and makes new friends for MATC at the 14th Annual RelayMembers of the MATC Watertown Relay for Life team raised $3,264, a new team record, for the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life event held at the Watertown High School athletic field in August. This is the second year in a row that the campus group has qualified for a Bronze Team Award by raising over $2,500. Total funds raised at the Watertown event were $100,360.

The theme for this year’s 14th annual event was adventure movies, and the MATC Watertown team chose Star Wars for their campsite theme. Nine faculty and staff members, along with several student employees, participated on the team this year. Susan Padron, Watertown clerical technician, chairs the Relay for Life group. Team members collected pledges online and in person, put together a Star Wars gift basket for the silent auction, and conducted a scavenger hunt for event participants. Wolfie, MATC’s famous mascot, also made a special appearance and greeted visitors.

In addition to their participation in the annual summer event, the MATC Watertown team holds monthly pizza and salad sales during the school year and hosts a Valentine’s Day chili mixer and bake sale in February.
