Repairs on the Central High Arch at the downtown campus of MATC began in October. Fred Brechlin, MATC professional services manager-facilities, says the work being done is part of a regular 10-year maintenance program.

The Mitby Theater hosted the Wisconsin premier of “Canvas� a winner of several International Film Festival awards on November 8th. The film portrays the effects of major mental illness on a family. From the Wisconsin State Journal, November 1, 2007: Scholarship Fund Aid-Two Honored with WINGS award

Employees and supporters at Addison Machine Engineering of Reedsburg raised more than $6,200 at a golf tournament to benefit the Randy Estrada Scholarship Trust. The trust provides scholarships in MATC’s automotive technician program.

Alex Fellenz, a senior at Middleton High School, won the Win A Career Contest. Fellenz, who is hoping to become a forensic anthropologist, received two years of tuition, a $6,000 value.

From The Capital Times, November 12, 2007: Iraq still part of life for MATC paper editor
Rachel McNeill, editor of MATC’s student newspaper The Clarion, spent a year in Iraq as a heavy equipment operator. She was stationed in Tikrit, and performed missions in Baquba and Samarra. She is juggling school, military training, and the running of an award-winning student newspaper. The Clarion received a 2006-07 National Newspaper Pacemaker Award at the Associated Collegiate Press National College Media Convention on October 27.
