MATC Libraries get into the spirit of the season
November 27, 2007 | Editor
This season, the MATC Libraries are showing community spirit in two ways.
Food for Fines
Through December 21 students are encouraged to bring in non‑perishable food items and have their library fines forgiven-$2 for each item of food.
Proceeds are given to MATC’s own Andy Czerkas for the River Food Pantry
operating off of Northport Drive. (To make a direct donation to the River Food Pantry, please contact Andy.)
The MATC Libraries run this food drive every semester, and over the years have donated dozens of boxes of food to neighborhood food pantries. We thank the River Food Pantry for this opportunity to serve our local community this season.
Books for Africa
Here at the MATC Libraries we have improved our process for disposing of duplicate books or those supplanted by newer editions. Selected material is boxed and mailed to Better World Books, where a portion of the money from their sale goes to Books for Africa.
Many thanks to our students, staff and faculty for being an important part of our contribution to these worthy projects.
