Reasons to use MATC Bookstore for your textbook needs

Administrators and faculty members ‑

Many of you may have received a contact from Madison Textbooks, asking you to supply them with book information, class rosters, and contact information. We have had questions about this request, and want to provide you with information.

Madison Textbooks is in direct competition with the MATC bookstore.

It is your right to deal with them if you choose, but I want you to know that our staff at the MATC Bookstores work very hard to provide books, other materials and service to our instructors, students and other customers. We would appreciate it if you would deal with us for all of your needs, for the following reasons:

  • An enormous amount of work is done by the Bookstore staff to prepare for each semester. Our competition simply has to ask for our booklist and because of the open records law we must supply them with it.
  • Profits generated from our bookstore go back to MATC. Profits from our competition are simply profits for them.
  • By working with your own bookstore you are helping your current students as well as your future students. When your current student sells a book back to us they receive cash for the book. The book then goes on our shelf to be sold to your future student at the used price. This process saves both students money. Byencouraging current students to deal with our own bookstores we help both them and next semesters incoming students save money. The more used books we have at our own bookstores, the more money we save our own students.
  • The MATC bookstore is an integral part of MATC ‑ not a separate business.

If for any reason you are ever unhappy with the service provided by the MATC Bookstores, please let us know so we can fix the problem. Again, I can’t tell you to ignore them but I would like to encourage you to let us help you. Together we can put our students first and help them save money right here at MATC.

Thank you,

Scott Heiman
