December 18, 2007 | Editor

We are very excited to announce the plan for New Student Daze (NSD) January, 2008. NSD has been presented for the past few years, serving an average of 2,500 new students annually.

ATTENTION: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

We are looking for volunteers (faculty and staff) to assist us on NSD at the Truax campus on January 10, 2008, anytime between the hours of 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. for 1-2 hour shifts. Please, email Susana Valtierra by January 3, 2008, if you will be available to help out. Your assistance in helping our students get acquainted with MATC would be appreciated.

The dates for this year’s NSD events will be:

  • Tuesday, January 8 - Fort Atkinson – 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 9 - Watertown - 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 10 - DTEC –10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Thursday, January10- Truax – 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

(Staff is asked to stay a half hour after scheduled closing time to assist those students who arrive during the last hour).

The program, which is part of the comprehensive new student orientation experience, is designed to provide new students with a day where they can get many of the services and products they need in a “one-stop concept, prior to the first day of classes and the start of their college experience.

The outcome is that students will be able to purchase books, pay fees, obtain One-Cards, register for email accounts, get last minute questions answered, and learn more about college resources in a fun and flexible format that meets their schedules. As a result, our students will feel more confident in their abilities and thus become engaged members of the college community.

If your area of the college is interested in participating by having a table/information station, please fill out the attached form and return it to the Student Life Office (Rm 140 Truax Campus) by December 21, 2007.
