United Common Ground (UCG)‑Student Life presents the following events:

Feb 19 in the Truax Cafeteria from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Bob Marley Celebration: The Internationalization of Reggae Music-Social and Political Global Impact

WORT (Madison’s community based radio station, 89.9) “Tropical Riddims Soundsystem” with DJ F.R.P. will be spinning Marley music and educating us about Bob’s universal message of tolerance (rather than judgment or condemnation). F.R.P. will highlight global social movements that drew strength and unity from Marley’s lyrics and philosophy. Additionally, the Truax cafeteria will be featuring a Jamaican menu in conjunction with this event.

UCG and the Black Student Union (BSU) present the
MATC Black History Month Student Showcase

MATC students will be showcasing a variety of talents. There will spoken word, a poetry slam, ethnic dancing, piano compositions and much, much more.

Feb 28 in the Truax Cafeteria from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Ital Caribe-African Drumming & Dance Troupe

Come join in the celebration of African culture. Learn basic steps of African dance and drum rhythms. Ital Caribe educates us about the African Diaspora through an interactive presentation for all age groups.
