Postage rate increase coming! Consider a “forever” stamp
February 14, 2008 | EditorOn February 11, the US Postal Service announced there will be a postage rate increase effective May 12, 2008. Standard letters will go up to .42 and postcards will be .27 a piece.
Once again the pieces that are considered flats, measuring over 6 1/8″ high by 11 ½” wide, are receiving the largest increase. One ounce is going up .03 per piece.
You have the opportunity to save the .01 by purchasing the Liberty Bell “Forever Stamp” for .41 through May 11, 2008.
Be aware that this increase was NOT projected in the budget for this FY. It is presumed that there will be an annual postage increase and it appears that it will take place in May. Plan/forecast appropriately for budgeting.
Be assured that the Mail Center will achieve it’s mission: To continue to research and implement procedures that maximize postage savings.
