MATC to host Mathematical Association of America–Wisconsin’s Spring Conference

From April 25 to 26, MATC Truax will host the Mathematical Association of America-Wisconsin Section’s 76th annual spring conference. More than 65 presentations by students and faculty of four-year and two‑year colleges of Wisconsin will take place beginning Friday, April 25, at noon and conclude on Saturday, April 26, at noon.

Guest speakers are Professor Colin Adams, Williams College, MA, co‑author of the “The Great PI/e Debate;” Professor Richard Cleary, Bentley College, MA, co‑editor of the Journal of the American Statistical Association and the American Statistician; Professor Arthur Benjamin, Harvey Mudd College, CA, who is also known as the mathemagician/human calculator.

Professor Benjamin will demonstrate “The Secrets of Mental Math” at 8 p.m., Friday, April 25, at the Mitby Theater. Reader’s Digest calls him “America’s Best Math Whiz.”

Students and teachers are invited for this public event.
