A little more about National Library Week and MATC Libraries:
National Library Week celebrates libraries and library employees in general, recognizing the importance of their role in whatever communities they serve. The theme this year is “Join the Circle of Knowledge.”
MATC libraries play a significant part in helping to realize the college’s strategic vision of “transforming lives, one at a time.” Between them, library staff members offer students, faculty and staff the benefits of a grand total of 205 years of library work experience.
In the 2006-2007 academic year library staff at the six campus libraries answered 16,958 reference questions, taught over 400 instruction sessions in support of classes across the curriculum and worked to provide both instructional resources and a supportive learning environment for the estimated 18,000 students walking through the libraries’ doors every month. Our work provides us with countless opportunities for positive, meaningful interaction with students.
The knowledge that we can make a difference in their lives by connecting them with the information and resources they need to succeed motivates and inspires us every day.
