“Lingo…It’s Not Just Words” is the title of MATC Math Club’s next presentation. The lecture by Professor Dale Buske of St. Cloud College, will be held on April 18 at 9 a.m. in the Mitby Theater at Truax.

Recently, the Game Show Network (re-)introduced a game show called Lingo hosted by Chuck Woolery (of Love Connection, Scrabble, and Greed fame). Knowledge of five-letter words, along with a little luck, helps win the game. This talk will explore the luck angle. Student intuition will be tested using a brief competition.

Dale Buske is professor and chair of mathematics at St. Cloud State University. Writing his thesis on operator algebra, he earned his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1997. The content of this particular talk emerged from watching daytime TV after a softball injury (a broken nose) put him on the couch for several days.
