MATC to Observe Administrative Professionals Week

ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS WEEK
April 20-26, 2008
Each year the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) salutes the year-long work of administrative professionals with activities in the workplace during Administrative Professionals Week, April 20-26. This year’s theme is “Forward Moving.”
The Business Technology department, which houses MATC’s Administrative Assistant (AA), Business Software Applications Specialist, and AA online programs, as well as a number of certificates including the Basic and Advanced Certificate in Microsoft Office, Website Development, Project Management, and Basic Medical Reception Skills certificates, will host recognition activities for the college’s administrative professional personnel. These events are sponsored by the MATC full-time and part-time faculty unions.
Events include:
- Wednesday, April 23, 3-4 p.m., *Truax Gourmet Dining Room (124)
- MATC employees who work at the Truax, T.E.C. Center, Fire Service Education Center, or one of the McAllen buildings in administrative professional positions (WORD: 28KB) are invited to a reception with members of the business technology department faculty and students. Cheesecake will be served.*Business technology faculty at other campuses (and other volunteers) will host activities at their locations.
- Wednesday, April 23, Administrative Professionals Day
MATC offices, centers and departments are encouraged to recognize the administrative professionals within their units. Recommendations for individual and group activities can be found on the IAAP website. The primary focus for the events should be professional development and recognition such as educational offerings, networking, memberships in professional organizations, luncheons, and the like. - Thursday, April 24, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m., Crowne Plaza Hotel, Madison
The Madison Chapter of IAAP will offer their annual seminar (program and registration information) for interested Madison-area administrative professionals. MATC employees wishing to attend should request approval from their supervisor.
