The Solar-powered Transit Shelter will…

  • Serve the special needs of MATC Students
  • Offer LED lighting, radiant heat flooring and an emergency phone system
  • Will generate ~1100 kWh of electricity per year

MATC’s Student Activities Board, in cooperation with our facilities and instructional staff, created the plans for this new structure. Photovoltaic materials are incorporated into the roof of the shelter producing 10 watts per square foot with a maximum of 900 watts total. Affiliated Construction Services (ACS) constructed the shelter. The electrical installation of the panels, inverter and disconnect switches were completed by Andrew Bangert of H & H Electric.
