District Motor Pool is ending; other options under review
April 22, 2008 | EditorOver the last six months the College has reviewed the usage and impact of maintaining the District Motor Pool vehicles. The findings confirmed that the cost to maintain the fleet was on the rise each year, although the usage did not increase.
After reviewing and analyzing the last several fiscal years usage reports and costs, a recommendation was made to the Executive Team to eliminate the motor pool and proceed in a new direction. The recommendation does not affect any vehicle currently assigned to a specific department, only those vehicles dedicated to the MATC Motor Pool. The Executive Team supported this recommendation and effective July 1, 2008, the District Motor Pool will no longer be available.
We are in the processes of reviewing other options, and will finalize a new procedure for those individuals needing to use a vehicle for business travel other than their private vehicle. The new procedure will be communicated to all staff in the near future, and will take effect July 1, 2008. For reservations of a Motor Pool vehicle through June 2008, please use the current process.
