Student Ambassador Nominations Sought

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to nominate students for the MATC Student Ambassador Program. Students who are nominated will be contacted and asked to complete an application form.

Those selected to serve as Student Ambassadors will be trained to help new students and serve as a critical link between the student and the college.

These student leaders will:

  • Help provide college tours to prospective students and community members
  • Serve as orientation leaders
  • Serve as student guides at New Student Daze and our Welcome Back Event
  • Attend special events as designated by the MATC President and District Board

While this is an honorary position, students who are selected will receive hourly pay at the MATC student help rate of $8.95 an hour (as of July 1, 2008) for the time they spend in training and participating in our events.

Qualifications for the Student Ambassador Program include:

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and in good academic standing
  • Be classified as an undergraduate student during the Student Ambassador Program
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 degree credits during each semester
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Be reliable, flexible and punctual
  • Enjoy assisting others and contributing to their success

The deadline for students to be nominated and complete an application is May 15, 2008. Applications can be picked up at the MATC Student Life Office, Truax Room 140 or Downtown Room D237.
