Thursday, June 12, at 8 p.m. at Indie Coffee, history instructor and author Jonathan Pollack will present his 20-minute documentary on the little-known history of Jewish entrepreneurs in Madison and their unique connection to the scrap metal business.

The presentation will include a performance by The Active Percussion duo who will create sound on scrap metal. Some people featured in the film will be on-hand for a discussion after the showing. Indie Coffee is located at 1225 Regent St. in Madison.

Pollack also is writing a history of Madison’s Jewish community. He says the documentary allows him to present his research in ways that go beyond writing and talking about it.
