Students and advisors had a great time in Kansas City at the SkillsUSA conference last week and brought home some medals. MATC students received two third-place and one second-place medals and placed high in many categories:

Automated Manufacturing Technology
Eric Anderson, Trent Brendl and Chris Grinde place 3rd out of 9 entries

Automotive Refinishing Technology
Ben Janke placed 2nd out of 22 entries

Automotive Service Technology
George Heindl placed 8th out of 42 entries

Cabinetmaking
Josh Weidenbeck placed 5th out of 16 entries

Collision Repair Technology
Nathan McAdams placed 10th out of 33 entries

Diesel Equipment Technology
Dan Louis placed 3rd out of 33 entries

The students and all advisors want to thank everyone who helped us this year. Special thanks to Bettsey and Deb and Ken for helping the club; it is truly appreciated by the students and the advisors (staff) of SkillsUSA.

The conference offered far more than we ever expected. There were 5,000 student competitors this year and more than 15,000 in attendance for closing ceremonies.

I will continue to assist the club in the years to come, and I know that good things will happen in the future.
