Part-time Faculty Mentors Available
July 22, 2008 | EditorPart Time Faculty Colleagues,
CETL has space in an opportunity that you may not be aware of this week. New part-time faculty hires may now request a mentor to help them with the transition to teaching at MATC and to provide ongoing information and support from seasoned part-time faculty. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please consider attending a mentor training workshop on July 25 to learn more and to prepare for this important role. CETL will compensate part-time faculty members to attend this one-day workshop at the “B” meeting rate. Go to the CETL website to register for this all-day professional development opportunity.
Foundations in Mentoring Workshop
Supporting new teachers is complex and demanding work. Veteran teachers stepping forward to mentor beginning colleagues need time, careful training and ongoing support to develop new skills and understandings that will enable them to become talented mentors of teachers. This workshop will provide study and practice in mentor roles, new teacher developmental needs, effective relationships, mentoring language and strategy, professional standards and the use of a Collaborative Assessment Log.
Time: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Facilitator: Jackye Thomas and Patrick Barlow
Location: CETL, Truax Room 219
