MATC Cabinetmaking & Millwork Students win RTA Contest

RTA woodworking winners 2008Class of 2008 graduates Joseph Disch and Ambrose Hetzel placed 1st and 3rd respectively in the WoodLINKS RTA (Ready to Assemble) furniture competition held at the International Wood Fair in Atlanta this month.

Joe and Am attended the show with Cabinetmaking & Millwork Program Director Patrick Molzahn. The competition was open to students from all over the U.S. and Canada. In addition to designing and manufacturing a product that could be disassembled and legally checked in on a commercial aircraft without weight or volume penalties, the contest also required students to submit a complete marketing plan and sales strategy for their product.

MATC will receive a free CAD/CAM software license from ArtCAM for having the winning entry.
