September 17 is Constitution Day

On Sept. 17, 1787, delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the young nation’s new Constitution, setting up the government. The U.S. Constitution contains the fundamental laws of the United States in its seven articles and 27 amendments.

To honor the day, federal lawmakers passed legislation in the spring of 2005 that requires all schools that receive federal funding to host “Constitution Day” on Sept. 17 with the focus being to educate the college community on the U.S. Constitution. This year at MATC, the Student Life Office is presenting a “Did you know…?” campaign that will feature video monitor postings, a table display, learning resources, and an email to students with resource sites and interactive websites to explore.

Please take a few minutes today to view the postings around campus, visit the display/information table outside Student Life on Wednesday, Sept. 17, or go online and take a peek at some websites and interactive experiences that you can share with your students.
