On Saturday, October 11, from 1-3 p.m., the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired will feature the White Cane Safety & Awareness Walk at MATC’s Truax Campus. See the White Cane event flyer (PDF: 160KB) and registration form (PDF: 68KB) for details.
The goals of this event are to:
- Raise awareness of the blind and visually impaired population in and around Madison
- Educate the larger community about the White Cane Safety Law
- Provide opportunities for participants to experience what vision loss feels like, using special simulators or a white cane
- Introduce attendees to the new “Quiet Cars that are challenging the safety of the blind and visually impaired.
We hope to encourage safety for all through this event, and we invite everyone to attend.
