What was it like growing up in segregated Mississippi during the 1960’s?
MATC Instructor Charles Brown will give his emotional personal story and talk about his participation in the civil rights movement during a special speech at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 23 in the Truax Student Lounge.
Brown was one of the first black children to integrate a white school in Mississippi. He also was put in a maximum security prison at the tender age of 14 for “taking part in the political process through civil disobedience.”
The event is being sponsored by the Black Student Union, International Students and the College Democrats.
