Heart disease is the number one killer of women. It affects women from all age groups, ethnicities, family histories and walks of life. Creating awareness about the prevention of heart disease is important to saving women’s lives—perhaps the life of someone you know.

Here’s how you can help bring more awareness to the problem. February 6 is National Wear Red Day. Show your support by taking a picture of your Go Red group at work and then e-mail us your photo by February 13.

10 Ways To Love Your Heart:
-Get regular check-ups.
-Know your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers.
-Follow your doctor’s recommendation for diet and exercise.
-If you smoke, quit now.
-Get at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day.
-Take prescription medications as directed.
-Eat a heart-healthy diet, including fruits and vegetables and whole-grain foods and fish.
-Limit food high in saturated fats and dietary cholesterol.
-Limit your salt intake to 2,300 mg of sodium a day.
-If you drink alcoholic beverages, drink in moderation—no more than one drink a day for non-pregnant women.

Don’t forget to wear red on February 6!
