Terrific Story of MATC Teamwork!

Recently, student Constance Chang became violently ill in class. Student security staff member Corey Johnson came to her rescue. Here’s a portion of Constance’s letter to President Barhorst—thanking Corey for helping her that day.

Hi Dr. Barhorst.

I wanted to really thank Corey for his wonderful help on Tuesday, April 28. In the early afternoon I had to suddenly rush out of class—after become violently ill! I barely made it to the stairwell on the third floor and collapsed. Corey soon arrived on the scene, stayed with me, checked my vital signs, promptly summoned the right help, was kind and supportive, got a wheelchair and an ambulance, and then drove me to Access Community Health Center so I could get additional medical follow-up. In short, Corey really saved my life! If there is an award of distinction for him, please give him that award! I also want to thank everyone else who came over to offer some support (another security staff member came over—did not get his name and Ms. Di Polly from the LPN program came over briefly which I also appreciated). The janitors are also the unsung heroes of the day/night at MATC and I truly treasure each and every member of the janitorial staff for doing such a terrific job! A standing ovation to all of them! Fortunately, it appears to have just been a case of food poisoning and I am slowly on the mend. I just wanted to express my deep gratitude to all who helped—ESPECIALLY COREY!

Sincerely,
Constance Chang

This is a wonderful example of the teamwork and dedication of our students/staff/faculty. Way to go!
