Faculty Center Update
July 28, 2009 | wbessetteThis email will provide the latest information concerning recent updates to the Faculty Center:
–ALL FACULTY (both full- and part-time) may now access the Faculty Center to enter final grades using their Network login through Inside MATC. In the past, faculty needed a network ID and a Faculty
Center ID—that is no longer necessary. Faculty who have been using the Faculty Center to do their grades and other functions can login either way for a time. New faculty were assigned a username and password when they activated their account and that is the only username and password they will need to log into the network and the Faculty Center.
–New faculty should navigate to Inside MATC, locate the Faculty Center section, click on the Blackboard link to review and agree to the SWC Faculty Center Approval document, and complete the FERPA tutorial and quiz.
–Faculty Center training documentation has been revised and is posted in Blackboard.
–A presentation on the new Faculty Center features will be available during Convocation. Fran Moritz is available to do demonstrations during Center/Campus Prep Week meetings. Please contact her at
(608) 243-4233 for more information.
–Future Feature Updates for Faculty Center coming soon include: Electronic Grade Change; expanded use of advisement features for advisors and advisees; and determining security access with the Deans/Associate Deans, Program Directors/Lead Faculty, and Program Coordinators.
–As we updated login functionality, security access was also updated to provide consistent security access based on role/job. Access to student data, class and grade rosters, etc., is now exclusively available through the Faculty Center. The good news is that faculty can obtain most of the student information in one location—the Faculty Center Advisement Tab—to look up student’s program/plan information, run degree audits, review grades, find student contact information, and more.
What faculty CANNOT do at this time is look up other faculty class rosters. If you need that access, please contact appropriate Center/Campus staff, so they may provide you with the information you need.
Please share this information with other faculty and staff in your Centers/Regions, as needed. If you have any questions regarding the above information, please contact Fran Moritz.
