Food Service Update
July 28, 2009 | wbessetteAs you probably noticed—the Truax Campus Food Service areas are experiencing some changes this summer.
Plastic barriers have been up all summer waiting the unveiling of new offerings and new service. All of the equipment being installed is intended to enhance the ability to offer consistent, quick and affordable food items. In addition, the security gate, which was no longer functioning safely, is being replaced.
The snack bar will no longer exist as you knew it. Instead, the space will be more attuned to a convenience store/Ancora coffee shop.
The cafeteria is continuing on its evolution to a market setting with more selections and greater self-serve options. The Culinary Program will have a more defined space for their special menu items.
Meanwhile, food variety in the Wolf Den will be predominately snack foods.
These changes are also having an impact on the service hours, which will be more closely aligned to the student needs. The investment in the new equipment and the installation are coming from available funds in the Enterprise Operations. It’s expected that with the changes and reduction in overhead, food prices will actually decrease for many items.
Food Service/Bookstore staff is also gearing up for the opening of a convenience type store on the new MATC West site—scheduled to be open before school starts. We’re also continuing with the expanded service times at MATC Downtown.
With only a couple of weeks left to the kick off of the fall semester, we’re anticipating the “unveiling” of the updated areas by August 15.
Thanks for your patience!
